Information Guide

What is the Westland Area Commission?

The Westland Area Commission is an advisory group, established in 1991 to participate in decision making and to promote the general welfare of the Westland Area.  The commission provides an opportunity for area residents, businesses, and organizations to state their problems and concerns and to solicit active participation and open communication with area institutions, businesses, and government entities, including the adjacent township areas.  We initiate, review, and recommend programs for the preservation, development, and enhancement of the commission area, including parks, recreation, schools, and traffic and streets.  The Westland Area Commission recommends priorities for government services and the operation of the various government departments in the commission area and recommends persons for appointment to other boards and commissions.

Our goal is to promote communications within the commission area, and between our area and the city  government.

What area does the Westland Area Commission cover?

The Westland Area covers the area west of Interstate 270, south of the Conrail railroad tracks (that are just north of West Broad St.), north of Big Run South Rd., and west of Hellbranch Creek (this crosses W. Broad St. near Alton).

When and where does the Westland Area Commission meet?

Regular meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at Doctor's West Hospital, 5100 W.
